What Are The Health Benefits Of Drinking Coffee?

Filed under: Coffee — Tags: — CakeAuthor @ 3:18 pm

Some people have given up coffee after being convinced it has a negative impact on health. They believe they’ll be kept awake all night, or become addicted to the caffeine, or end up urinating far more frequently as a result of drinking too much coffee. Excessive coffee drinking may cause these things. But, research indicates that there are plenty of benefits to counter the potential pitfalls of drinking coffee. Keep these possible benefits for drinking coffee in mind when you make your choice.

Drinking coffee has been linked to an increase in the risk of infertility in women, as well as problems with birth. The incidence of stillbirth is significantly increased in mothers who drank coffee throughout the pregnancy. You are more likely to miscarry in the first trimester ifyou are drinking more than two cups per day of any caffeinated beverage but research show especially for coffee. Mothers who drink coffee during pregnancy can expect lower than average birthweights. Even decaff coffee isn’t the best for you because of the chemicals found in it even if only trace amounts.

Coronary artery disease, or heart disease, is a servere disease that researchers say is the result of drinking coffee heavily. The research explains that drinking coffee can most often be associated with higher numbers of the inflammation markers in the body. In many cases, the studies show that inflammation has a bad affect on the cardiovascular system. These huge caffeine doses can also dramatically raise cholesterol levels, which is a big thing that will raise the risk of coronary artery disease. It was also found that a lot of those patients that had bad affects has other factors that can cause heart disease, such as smoking, drinking large sums of alcohol and not getting any exercises in their lives. Yet researchers agree that patients drinking less than 3 cups of coffee per day may actually help heart health, rather than affect it. The goal is drinking coffee in moderation and decreasing your exposure to substances that can raise your risk of coronary heart disease.

Studies indicate that women who drink too much coffee often suffer from anemia and an iron deficiency. Drinking too much coffee hampers the ability of the body to properly absorb iron. Unfortunately your body needs to maintain a proper balance of iron. Not only does iron help to carry oxygen to the body and the lungs, but it’s also an integral part of many enzyme reactions. Iron is a vital factor for controlling infection within the body. It is these deficiencies that have the body acting at less than optimal performance levels. Anemia and constant fatigue are common results of prolonged iron deficiencies.

Finally, drinking a small to mid sized amount of coffee is not going to kill you. You must however remember that over indulging is a different story all together. Be careful to monitor how much you are drinking and you’ll be worry free. It’s important to remember that even though there are pros and cons moderation is important.

Coffee Can Be Good For Your Health

See Is Coffee Good For Your Health?. In the past decades, people thought coffee was not very advisable because it boosts unnecessary nervousness. Now, coffee is being studied for its potential health benefits. In fact, some research efforts have already proven the advantages of regularly drinking coffee to overall health.

Caffeine is the main component of coffee that is believed to bring about surprising health benefits. There has been growing evidence that caffeine could lower risks of certain diseases in older and middle-aged adults. Studies advise drinking at least two hot cups of coffee daily to gain the benefits of caffeine.

Many studies found that caffeine brings health benefits to animals. Several researchers are now proving the helpfulness and effectiveness of the substance in slowing down or preventing the progression of heart ailments, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and even oral cancer. Before caffeine is formally pronounced totally advantageous against such medical risks, more studies still need to be done to confirm results.

There is a reason why coffee is used in studies to investigate the health benefits of caffeine. The substance can also be found in several brands of soft drinks, tea, several medications, and even chocolate. However, coffee is still the best and most popular source of caffeine. Promising data indicate strong links between regular consumption of caffeinated java and avoidance of specific types of diseases.

Many experts are not advising particular brands or types of coffee. They advise regular drinking of coffee in general. Whether you enjoy drinking black coffee, brewed, or instant, you can rest assured you will still attain the same level of caffeine. While in the past coffee was always served hot, nowadays, it is also served cold, icy, or in frappe.

Before you decide to perk yourself up with coffee, you have to first consult your personal doctor to find out how many cups of coffee you should consume. Every cup of coffee is estimated to have many  antioxidants and several other healthy chemicals. Remember that caffeine intake is not always advisable and prescribed to people who are taking specific medications.

Caffeine intake is also not very advisable for pregnant women as well as for patients with heart arrhythmia. While some studies recommend up to two cups of coffee everyday, it is still best if you observe moderation. Take note that too much caffeine could cause insomnia, jitters, stomach upset, headaches, and anxiety.

Coffee Has Antioxidants That Are Good For The Body

See coffee and health. Getting eight hours of rest, a good diet and taking some multivitamins are the best ways to maintain a healthy body. But did you know that drinking java is also beneficial because it has antioxidants?

This was discovered after researchers did further tests to check if there are any effects of drinking coffee aside from increased alertness. Studies conclude that taking two to three cups daily can prevent various diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, depression and the prevention of cavities.

Another study shows that the antioxidants contained in coffee are more effective than those coming from fruits and vegetables.

Aside from coffee, other substances that contain caffeine, which can help boost the immune system, are tea and chocolate. Red wine or beer is helpful but these must be consumed in moderation.

Green java beans for example have something inside called chlorogenic acid. This is an antioxidant that helps regulate the digestive system and makes the body absorb oxygen much better than other liquids.

Regular black coffee on the other hand has caffeic acid, melanoidins and N-methylpyridinium.

There are people who drink coffee with cream, milk or sugar. Even if one or all three are mixed with coffee, the level of antioxidants that it has remains the same so people can still reap the benefits of drinking it.

So, the next time the person goes to a cafe and decides to get a drink, chances are that coffee will be ordered instead of a cup of tea. The person will just have to choose from the different variants now available which could be either hot or cold.

Studies have shown that there is nothing wrong with drinking more than three cups of coffee daily. Some people are able to do it while others can’t. The best thing to do is know when enough is enough. After all, there is always tomorrow and it is not that difficult to brew up a new batch. By engaging in other things that will benefit one’s lifestyle, the individual will surely live until one is in 70’s or 80’s.

The only ones who shouldn’t drink coffee are those who are pregnancy, are suffering from heart disease or children who will become restless with the excess energy due to the caffeine.

Coffee As Your Health Drink

See Is Coffee Good For Your Health?. For some time now, the debate continues on the health benefits of java. There are a variety of studies which found out that indulging on certain amounts of coffee causes high blood pressures, heart ailments and even ulcers.

On the other hand, there have been an almost equal number of researches that proved the health benefits of drinking coffee. Let’s look more closely on the second one.

Recent medical findings have shown that regular consumption of coffee reduces the risk of Parkinson’s, diabetes, and even lowers the risk of having colon cancer.

It seems that the high caffeine content of coffee is the one responsible for all these. The development of Parkinson’s for one has been found out to be indirectly correlated to the intake of caffeine. The more you take in caffeine, the less the risk you develop the disease. The same goes with type 2 diabetes as well.

As more studies are being conducted, the more they are moving towards making their studies conclusive. It has been found that taking two cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of developing colon cancer by as low as 25 percent.

An 80% drop in the risk of having liver cirrhosis was observed in people who drink at least 2 cups of coffee on a daily basis.

The antioxidants found in the coffee appear to be the ones responsible for reducing the chances of developing such diseases. It seems that the antioxidants control the growth of the cells of these diseases.

Also, antioxidants are great sources of chlorogenic acid which have been found to be able to reduce glucose concentrations in one’s body.

However, one important factor in all these studies is the quantity of coffee consumption. They have found a number of benefits from drinking a cup or two per day. Some of the benefits disappear once the individual drinks more than two cups of coffee in a day. The more cup of java you drink, the less benefits you will receive.

Aside from the antioxidant contents, coffee’s caffeine has some great effects on our body. Recent research from the University of Bristol found out that the caffeine influences our cognition and mood.

According to the study, caffeine from coffee can increase alertness and performance thus increasing one’s productivity especially in the workplace.

Still, coffee does have some not so good effects. Caffeine contains a mild addictive stimulant, coffee itself can cause an increase heart rate as well as an increased blood pressure. But as always, the key is moderation.

Serious Facts On Hot Coffee

Coffee is a widely appreciated libation that many folk like to drink. It has become a social symbol and has developed into several flavors, forms and presentations. Hot coffee drink is still more popular than the modern iced coffee drinks. Despite the numerous adaptations and flavors that have cropped up recently, black hot coffee (with or without cream) is still one of the foremost beverages all over the world.

The right temperature is needed for a person to fully appreciate the delightful taste of hot coffee. If the water used to brew or mix the coffee is too hot, and the drinker drinks it speedy, there’s risk of scalding the drinker’s tongue. Waiting for the hot coffee to cool a little can be tricky because it may cool too much and therefore diminish its taste. Letting hot coffee stand in an open container for over thirty mins deteriorates the flavour and gives you a sour taste.

The perfect temperature for making coffee is just off the boil. This puts the water or the coffee mix at about 195 degrees. This is the right temperature for extracting the correct flavor from the beans that you use. This is if you make coffee without the brewer or drip coffee maker. The term just off the boil means after the water has achieved a steady boil ; you take it off the heat and wait for around 2 mins before serving. Hot coffee is excellent for drinking slowly. Care must be exercised when drinking just served hot coffee because in many cases, this is scalding hot and may burn your tongue.

Ideally, the right temperature for serving coffee is 165 - 175 degrees. This is enough to save the flavour of the coffee. Letting your hot coffee stand for can drop the heat but at the same time, compromise the flavour of the brew when it is left along for too much time. Hot coffee in cups cools faster than brewed coffee in a carafe or an airpot. The airpot is the simplest way to save you brewed coffee since it is airtight and doesn’t permit the coffee to chill simply.

Drinking hot coffee is not only for mornings, many people have extended the practice of consuming the dark beverage after meals or during late afternoon. Some even drink hot or cold coffee at night after dinner. Hot coffee can be soothing for some drinkers and necessary for many others.
